Mid-sized businesses across the United States and Canada lack cybersecurity experts and incident response plans, according to report

According to a recent report by Huntress, 99% of businesses in the United States and Canada are mid-sized businesses facing cybersecurity challenges. The report found that many mid-sized businesses lack the necessary resources and expertise to effectively protect themselves against cyber threats.

Some of the key findings include:
- 24% of mid-sized businesses have suffered a cyber attack or are unsure if they have suffered a cyber attack in the last 12 months.
- 61% of mid-sized businesses do not have dedicated cybersecurity experts in their organization.
- 47% of mid-sized businesses do not currently have an incident response plan.
- 27% of mid-sized businesses reported having no cyber insurance coverage.

The report also highlighted that many mid-sized businesses struggle to implement basic cybersecurity measures and recruit the necessary staff. Additionally, some organizations are finding it difficult to secure cyber insurance due to their security gaps.

The report suggests that mid-sized businesses should prioritize cybersecurity and consider investing in layered security strategies, including threat monitoring, endpoint detection and response, vulnerability scanning, patch management, and network detection and response. It also recommends developing incident response plans and providing cybersecurity training to employees.
